your voice matters in our workplace
At Voices of Our City Choir, we believe that diverse perspectives guide our organization and mission, fuel creativity, and create opportunity for growth. We are dedicated to fostering a work environment that promotes equal opportunities for leadership development across the entire team. We are passionate about empowering historically underrepresented colleagues—people of color, women, and the LGBTQ+ community—by coaching, mentoring, and supporting them to reach their highest possible success and achieve their greatest potential.
we take care of our team
Because we provide in-person services and programming to our neighbors impacted by homelessness, our team works primarily together on-site. We strive to make our office a fun and comfortable environment. We provide a team breakfast weekly, a paid lunch hour, every other Friday off (and shorter Fridays the weeks we’re in). We are also right across from Balboa Park for mid-day breaks in the sunshine, and a very short walk to delicious eateries!
You First: We offer all full-time employees top-notch medical / dental / vision coverage. We also have Flexible Spending Accounts available.
Generous Paid Time Off: All full-time team members begin accruing sick and vacation time from Day One, up to two weeks of vacation in your first year.
Holidays: We offer 12 paid holidays.
Work / Life Balance: If the Choir is performing on an evening or weekend, we offer our team the opportunity to flex weekday work hours.
9-80 Work Schedule: We work 9-hour days, with paid lunch, and have every other Friday off.
Competitive Salaries: We make sure our pay is better than the market value.
Professional Development: We invest in each team member’s professional development and continued learning.
A Groovy Start to Your Week: Every Monday morning, we gather with our choir community, volunteers, and local musicians for an uplifting musical experience, followed by a catered lunch for all.
Respect: From those we serve to those we work alongside, we honor the diversity of self-expression within our creative community. We model self-respect for our colleagues and choir in a culture of wellness and work-life balance.
Inclusivity: We believe in a diverse and equitable approach to our work, maintaining an accepting, accessible, and safe environment for all. We believe diverse voices and perspectives expand our effectiveness. We value the infinite potential of all people and will strive to ensure equity in all aspects of our work.
Creativity: We encourage our team to broaden the scope and impact of our mission by honoring artistic expression in all its forms and encourage staff to contribute their unique creative energy to Voices’ mission.
Community Presence: We prioritize building relationships that are rooted in mutual respect, hospitality, and collaboration. We strive to partner with organizations and communities that share our practices around accessibility, equity, and inclusion.
Learning and Growth: We encourage a culture of learning and continuous improvement among our team and Choir Members. We support each team member in reaching their highest potential through coaching and ongoing professional development.
Transparency: We are honest and transparent in all our operations and decision-making processes with staff, stakeholders, and our members. We manage our operations with integrity, honesty, and accountability.
