Stories of Resilience become possible with your support
In 2017, Voices of Our City started as a grassroots movement in San Diego. The impact of our work and the needs of our community have grown exponentially. Your support can help us stay resilient during times of growth and uncertainty.
Resilience isn’t always a straight line and it’s not always neat or easy. For our Choir Members, sometimes it looks like showing up to sing even when life still hurts. That’s what Luis does every week at Voices of Our City.
Luis came to Voices of Our City to participate in our Outreach Program. Although he was just looking for a shower, what he found was something more—community, purpose, and the chance to sing again.
At Voices, Luis rediscovers his voice.
Now housed, Luis shows up to rehearsals, sings solos, and shares laughter with friends who have walked similar paths. He is still on his journey—but now, he’s surrounded by joy, community, and support from Voices, no matter where life takes him next.
That’s what resilience sounds like at Voices of Our City. It’s so much more than just a song, it’s hope, backed by resources and a strong team. Every week, our members gather to create art, music, and to rebuild their lives. Through all of life’s ups and downs, they keep showing up, keep singing, and keep creating a future of which they can be proud.
