San Diego Magazine's 'Celebrating Women' includes 15 categories encompassing industries that make up our beautiful city. Each category has nominees separated by individuals that are considered Pioneers or Rising Stars in their respective industries. The women with the most votes in each industry and subcategory will be honored at San Diego Magazine's 2025 Celebrating Women Summit. Results will be finalized and announced November 5th.

Voices of Our City Choir is proud to announce a double honor: both Steph Johnson, Co-Founder and CEO, and Lindsey Seegers, Executive Director, have been nominated for San Diego Magazine’s 2025 Celebrating Women Awards. These nominations highlight their transformative leadership and bold vision in the nonprofit sector—where compassion, creativity, and advocacy come together to change lives.

Steph Johnson is nominated in the Nonprofit – Pioneer category, honoring her nearly decade-long work building a nationally recognized arts and justice movement. Since co-founding Voices of Our City Choir in 2016, Steph has empowered hundreds of San Diegans experiencing homelessness through the transformative power of music and community. Her leadership helped launch the choir onto the national stage, including the unforgettable Golden Buzzer moment on America’s Got Talent in 2020. Today, Steph continues to inspire hope, connection, and change—not just in San Diego, but across the country.

Lindsey Seegers is nominated in the Nonprofit – Rising Star category for her bold leadership and innovative approach to care. Lindsey’s nomination celebrates her visionary leadership and tireless advocacy for unhoused individuals, especially women and gender-diverse community members. As Executive Director of Voices of Our City, she has strengthened the organization’s infrastructure, expanded trauma-informed services, and deepened its impact across San Diego—bringing stability, dignity, and opportunity to people who are too often left behind. Lindsey is a rising star not just in name but in action—transforming what it means to lead a nonprofit with equity, compassion, and courage at the center.
